Dearest Bryn,

We have finalised with the Land purchase. We are free now to do more development.

You wrote about the toilet facility for the school, and I wish to give you a rough estimate which will be used by both girls and boys and a bathroom. The estimate is about ksh 70,000. This will cover the digging, the cement, sand and doors plus a solid (wired) floor and ventilation pipes. We also thought it is time we built an office which will house the books and stationary materials. If we can move in this direction we are doing well. May I also thank you all for the assistance you are putting to this school. God bless you. Greetings also to Bonnie.

Regards to Sherna.

Barnabas.

In the photo below left, the plot of land is shaded red and sits between the current rented school, and the newly built school which is on land owned by the Bett family and will be transferred to the school when it it registered and can hold property. Clicking on the plan thumbnail to the right will bring up a .pdf plan of the school and its environs.

Meg Deamer Academy, near Eldoret Kenya (March 2009)
The US$2,500 raised at the end of 2008 has been used to build two new classrooms

The Meg Deamer Academy is a private school located in Eldoret, Kenya, providing elementary education to students who would not otherwise attend school. The curriculum focuses on beginning academics and character development. The vision of the school is to bring up children who will benefit society in the future as part of a community building process.

It was founded in January 2007 by Barnabas and Florence Bett with minimal personal financial assistance from members of the Deamer/Hough family - and was thus named in honor of Meg Deamer, who passed away in Oct. 2006 in Port Vila Vanuatu shortly before the school was founded.
